«Youth Yabloko»: publications in English

«Youth Yabloko»  is one of the most known youth political movements in Russia.  It has a long history: the first group of youth appeared in «Yabloko» in 1995 in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg, the organization for the whole country appeared in the beginning of 2005.

Nowadays «Youth Yabloko» exists as the faction within the Russian United Democratic Party «Yabloko». The federal structure of the faction includes more than 30 regional organizations and more than 3 000 members.

The main goals of the «Youth Yabloko»:

• Struggle against the building of authoritarian political regime in Russia.
• Building of democracy, civil society and constitutional state in Russia.
• Struggle against the demonstration of xenophobia and nationalism.
• Protection of rights and freedoms of young citizens, prevention of any types of discrimination.
• Abolition of call-up system in the army and transition to the professional army on the base of contract.
• Achievement of more social protection for youth, improvement of living conditions for young families.
• Brining youth in the participation in the social and political life of the country.
• Preparation and participation in the realization of programs for political, economical and social development of Russia.
• Struggle against the pollution of the environment.
• Organization of control during the elections.
• Participation in the local elections as youth candidates.
• Support of Party «Yabloko» during the electoral campaigns.

During the last time the members of «Youth Yabloko» managed to do the following:

• Defended the right of the students of Moscow State Linguistic University with the profile studying of foreign languages to study the second language for free.
• Obtained the cleaning of several big lakes in the regions of Ural and Siberia.
• Made the administration of Russian State University of the Humanities to give the rooms to the dozens of students from another towns.
• Achieved the realization of right on the favorable tickets in the city transport for several thousands of students in Saint-Petersburg. 
• Attracted attention to the fact, that the administrations of high schools in Saint-Petersburg don’t realize the court decree according to which the fee for student rooms must not be higher, than 30 rubles.  
• Organized the collection of things for children’s in the hospitals and children’s homes.
• Achieved the favorable prices on the Internet access for youth in Moscow.
• Cleaned hundreds of fascist and nationalist symbols and inscriptions on the walls of buildings.
• Achieved the increase of buses and trolleybuses on several routs in Moscow.
• Made the administration of Ekaterinburg not to buy expensive transport for bureaucrats at the expense of city budget.
• Prevented the disturbances of rules of the building in several towns.
• Participated in the preparation of several social programs in Moscow.
• United the initiative groups into the one protest group against the disturbing building and environmental politics of Moscow administration.
• We are among the main organizers of protest actions.
• Defended the burial place of the victims of repressions in Tumenskaya oblast.

«Youth Yabloko» cooperate with different Russian youth organizations: «Democratic Alternative», «STOP call-up army», «Youth Human Rights Movement», Moscow Helsinki Group, Movement «For Human Rights», Association «Golos».   We also cooperate with several foreign organizations of West and East Europe: «Pora» in the Ukraine, «Zubr» Movement in Belarus, The Liberal Youth in the Baltic Sea Area (LYBS). «Youth Yabloko» is the partner of The European Liberal Youth (LYMEC), and is the observer member of International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY).

Among the members of «Youth Yabloko» there are popular youth leaders, journalists, local deputies and state workers, members of Youth Parliaments and people councils. The activists of our organization work as deputy assistants, members of electoral commissions and are members of the governing body of Party «Yabloko».
«Youth Yabloko» work according to the Statute and its own Programme. Our organization is governed by the Federal Council and three co-chairs.
